The Secret of Our ORGANIC SOAPS:

Our soap base consists of a blend of certified organic vegetable oils, each of which makes its own contribution to the soap and to your skin. 

Olive oil has a wonderfully moisturising effect on the skin and is always the majority oil in all my soaps. It is useful for dehydrated, sore and inflamed skin

Coconut oil produces a good lather and palm oil contributes stability and hardness.  Coconut oil is a good solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It also delays wrinkles, and sagging of skin which normally become prominent with age. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Therefore coconut oil forms the basic ingredient of various body care products such as soaps, lotions, creams, etc., used for skin care.

In addition, all my soaps now contain hempseed and avocado oils, the two most luxurious available to the soap-maker, being rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and proteins: avocado oil also has a high proportion of unsaponifiables and is wonderfully effective in cases of dry skin and eczema. 

I also use sesame and sunflower oils in all my soaps.  Finally I enrich all my soaps with cocoa-butter for its moisturising, soothing and softening properties or shea butter or both.

100% ORGANIC SOAPS:

For colour and texture I use organic flowers, herbs, roots, spices or seaweed.  These also contribute effective exfoliating and scrub benefits.

Organic essential oils provide not only fragrance but also a wide range of skin-care properties. You will find that the fragrance lasts throughout the long life of the soap, right down to the last thin wafer.

ORGANIC SHAVING BARS:

These bars contain the same rich oil mix as the shampoo bars, as well as castor oil and bentonite clay.  You will find that they lubricate and protect your skin and relieve razor rash.  New customers agree that they have never enjoyed such a wonderful shave and that they love the fresh feel on their face.   Chose from a range of  five shaving bars.

ORGANIC SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER BARS:

Solid, long lasting shampoo bars, they can be used frequently without drying effects.  To use these solid bars, first get your hair really wet.  Then, make a few passes with the bar until you get a rich lather.  Massage into your scalp and leave for a few minutes before rinsing out.  It is that simple.  Because my shampoos do not contain sodium laureth sulphate, they don’t strip away the natural oils from your hair and can be used without a conditioner.

The shampoo bars can also be used as soaps for face and body!!

How we make our Organic Soaps.

TRADITIONAL PROCESS:

Using the energy efficient cold process, the oils are mixed with a lye solution of sodium hydroxide.  This starts the saponification process which transforms the original oils and lye into soap, glycerin and water.  After some little while, I add in the essential oils, herbs and superfatting oils and pour the whole mixture into a mould where the process will continue.  After a few days it is hard enough to be removed for cutting into bars.  These are stacked up to dry-cure and harden for about six to eight weeks. 

The final result is a gentle, cleansing bar which retains the natural glycerin of the oils.  The glycerin protects your skin with a breathable barrier which locks in internal moisture and attracts external moisture from the atmosphere. So effective that some people stop using moisturisers.

LUXURIOUS:

The soaps feel fresh and healthy on your skin and produce a rich, luxurious, creamy lather which rinses clean away, leaving you feeling pampered, refreshed, moist, soft and squeaky clean.

FRAGRANT:

For fragrance I use pure, organic essential oils.  These also enhance the soaps with a wide range of skin-care properties – my soaps are a great way to practice aromatherapy!  You will find that the fragrance lasts throughout the long life of the soap, right down to the last thin wafer.

SKIN CARE:

My soaps are as pure as they might be and I am happy to recommend them for your skin care.  You will soon notice a difference.

ORGANIC, VEGAN, ETHICAL:

Natural Organic Soaps used to be inspected and certified by the Soil Association until 2012. We have chosen to opt out of their scheme for the present time but continue to purchase totally organic ingredients.

My products are all registered with the Vegan Society.
